Field Trial History:
Rick Van Bergen started in the sport of field trialing over 30 years ago. As
one of the more experienced amateurs in the United States, he served as
president of the National Amateur Retriever Club in 2001. He judged the
National Amateur Field Trial Championship in 1991 and served as Field Trial
Chairman for the National Amateur Field Trial Championship in 1993. In
addition, he has earned over 60 all-age judging points. Rick has handled
several dogs to their titles and continues to compete in both Open and
Amateur field trial events. When he is not training or competing in field
trials; he is an avid hunter and hunting guide.
